Dr. Joyce Hardy, Chadron State College senior vice president for academic and student affairs, was one of four featured speakers Friday, March 26, at the third annual Nebraska Women in Higher Education Leadership Conference at Creighton University at Omaha.

Hardy presented a summary of the various types of assessment, the primary themes of assessment as related to academic programs, and the application of those themes to personal, professional and institutional development.

Hardy has served on the conference’s planning team each of the three years. The conference is designed to support leadership development and professional networking among women in Nebraska higher education. Representatives from all colleges and universities in Nebraska are invited to attend the consortium.

This year’s theme was “Tools for Effective Leadership.”

“The focus on leadership within higher education is valuable,” Hardy said. “The meeting of other women in similar positions at other institutions is an exceedingly important part of this conference.”

Eight other women from Chadron State attended the conference. They are Laura Gaudet, associate professor of counseling, psychology and social work; Deb Keim, academic and student affairs office assistant; Yvonne Moody, associate professor of applied sciences; Amanda Nipp, office assistant for admissions; Sarah Polak, director of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center; Susan Schaeffer, assistant professor of counseling, psychology and social work; Aimee Vander Feen, director of the Scottsbluff extended campus site; and Kara Vogt, director of human resources and development.
