Thirteen CSC retirees honored at dinner

Thirteen Chadron State College employees who have retired or will be retiring this spring and summer were recognized Friday night during a dinner in the Student Center. Also honored were employees who have been at CSC 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years.

The retirees are:

--Janet Adams, who operated the CSC switchboard and mail room most of her 25 years at CSC.

--Dr. Terry Brennan, the college’s head librarian the past 24 years.

--Barbara Carson, coordinator of the curriculum library and children’s collections in the CSC library the last 21 years.

--Gary Daigger, who retired in January after serving as one of the college’s electricians for nine years.

--Dr. Rolland Dewing, a history professor for 35 years. He was chairman of the Division of Social Science the first 18 years.

--Dr. Jay Druecker, a CSC biology professor for 36 years. He headed the college’s health professions program most of that time.

--Margaret Galey, who has been the office assistant in the CSC physical facilities office the past 15 years. Prior to that she worked in the business office for four years.

--Dr. Jim Gibson, a biology professor the past 32 years, primarily teaching environmental biology courses.

--Cliff Hanson, who taught business courses for 35 years. He also has headed the Nebraska Business Development Center at CSC the past 26 years.

--Dr. Jack Hytrek, an education professor and director of the CSC field experiences program the past nine years. He is leaving because his wife, the former Gayle Abel of Harrison, will become president of Moraine Park Technical Community College in Fond du Lac, Wis., on July 1. The couple met in 1961 while both were attending CSC.

--Emily Klein, director of conferences the past 10 years. Before that, she was the president’s secretary seven years and director of student activities six years.

--Dr. Lee Moeller, a professor of industrial technology the past 32 years.

--Leona Wilkins, who has been the secretary for the dean of the School of Arts and Sciences the past 16 years.

Hanson and Dr. Lee Hulm, a business professor, were recognized for being at CSC 35 years. Dr. Randy Lawson, a biology professor; Audrey White, a maintenance worker; and Sally Zahn, a librarian, were honored for 30 years at the college.

Those honored for 25 years at the college besides Adams included Dr. Margaret Crouse, professor of family and consumer science; Brenda Barry, CSC safety director; Beverly Holst, custodian in the Student Center; Doralie Lawson, assistant director of the Child Development Center; Dr. Yvonne Moody, associate professor of family and consumer science; and Sherri Simons, director of housing.
