Student member appointed to Board of Trustees
Kari Daly of Hershey has been appointed Chadron State College’s student representative on the Board of Trustees of Nebraska State Colleges. The appointment was made by Gov. Mike Johanns.
Daly is a junior seeking a legal studies degree with minors in criminal justice and Spanish. She has been a member of Chadron State’s Student Senate for three years, and currently serves on its constitutional court. She also is president of CSC’s Legal Studies Club.
Although student positions on the board are non-voting, Daly said she is looking forward to voicing student concerns and helping members make sound decisions. She also wants to make Chadron State students more aware of the board and its role.
Daly said she gained interest in the position through her involvement with the CSC Host Parent Program. Her host parents are Board of Trustees member Larry Teahon of Chadron and his wife, Linda.
The new student appointments from the three state colleges will begin attending meetings in June. Daly succeeds Sara Beth Ramsey of Buffalo, Wyo., a senior who was the first graduate from a non-Nebraska high school to be selected.
“The board makes a lot of decisions that affect students in a big way,” Daly said. “Sara Beth has done an excellent job keeping us informed and I want that to continue.”
Daly graduated from Hershey High School in 2001 and is the daughter of Dave and Sharon Daly.
