Seniors set recital

Two outstanding music majors at Chadron State College will present their senior recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center.

 Ben Stinson of Rushville will be playing the tuba and Alex Smith of Ashland will be playing the trombone. Both are students of Dr. William Winkle. There will be no admission charge.

Stinson is working on a bachelor of science in music education degree. He will be performing “Concert Piece” by Rapoldt, six English folk songs by Vaughn Williams and “Introduction and Dance” by Barat.

In addition, Stinson and Kathy Thomas, a horn player who is the elementary music teacher in Gordon, will present, “A Brass Duo” by Frankenpohl.

Smith is seeking a bachelor of arts in commercial music business. He will be performing “Violin Sonata in F” by Correlli, “Arioso” by J.S. Bach, “Concerto Miniature” by Ostranky, “Sonata No. 6 for Violin” by Handel, “Concerto for Cello” by Haydn, “Annie Laurie Variations” by Arthur Pryor and join with sophomore Jon Dailey of Chadron for three trombone duets.
