A Chadron State College education professor, Dr. Don King, was elected president of the Nebraska Association of Colleges of Teacher Education. He will assume the duties at the organization’s quarterly meeting at Wayne State College in June.

King succeeds Dr. Deb Ponec of Creighton University as president.

The association’s membership is comprised of representatives from the 18 higher education institutions in Nebraska that train teachers. During the quarterly meetings, the members review issues relevant to teacher education, and serve as an advisory/recommending body to the State Board of Education and the Nebraska State Education Association.

A native of California, King is completing his 11th year at Chadron State. He was recently named chairman of the CSC Education Department.
