New biology instructor at CSC

Published:

A native of North Dakota is a new microbiology instructor at Chadron State College.

Avery Paulson grew up on a ranch in the western portion of the state and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. He gained extensive research experience by holding two internships while earning his master’s degree in microbiology.

The first internship involved studying cell culture at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks. The second was in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of North Dakota’s School of Medicine. His primary emphasis in the latter position was on how penicillin binding proteins modify and stabilize the cell wall.

He also has worked as a graduate teaching assistant in microbiology. Paulson replaces Dr. Joe Corsini, who resigned last spring.
