New art exhibit coming to CSC
The works of Sandra Williams, an art professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will open Friday, Feb. 20 in the Main Gallery of Memorial Hall at Chadron State College. A reception from 4 to 6 p.m. will help open the exhibit, which is titled “Gas, Food and Lodging.”
The exhibit will feature five large pieces, which are carved out of flat wooden panels, taking on the character of both sculpture and paintings. Williams has assembled some of them into house-like forms and lighted them from the interior. She uses rubber, plastic and resin to achieve images with intensely saturated color.
The artist says storytelling is the foundation of her work. The display will remain open to the public through March 19.
