Jazz concert at CSC Saturday night

The Chadron State College music program will present its Fall Jazz Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 in Memorial Hall. It will spotlight the vocal jazz ensemble, the instrumental jazz ensemble and the Jazz Birds, which features both vocal and instrumental artists. Dr. Joel Schreuder and Dr. Sandy Schaefer are the directors.

 Saxophone sounds will be prevalent. Jolanna Milburn of Rushville on the tenor sax and Travis Norris of Hale, Mo., on the guitar will be soloists on the Latin tune by Gordon Goodwin called “Mueva Los Huesos” (Shake Your Bones). Later in the program, Milburn and Norris will be featured on “Road Song” by Wes Montgomery.

In addition, the saxophone section will present “Early Autumn,” a ballad from the 1947 Woody Herman Band. Alesha Hebbert, a freshman from Gering, will play an alto sax solo during the number.

Also an outstanding vocalist, Milburn will sing the Tower of Power tune “Attitude Dance.” In addition, Jennifer Moody of Kimball, a former Marine, will sing “Softly as a Morning Sunrise” and Schreuder will sing the Frank Sinatra hit “Come Fly With Me.”

Tickets for the concert may be purchased in advance through the Memorial Hall Box Office, which is open from 2 to 5 p.m. each weekday. They are $5 for adults and $3 for youths 18 and under and senior citizens. All tickets at the door will be $6.
