Ivy Day royalty crowned at Chadron State

Seniors Angie Meiergerd of West Point and Zane Vapenik of Elsie were crowned the Ivy Day royalty at Chadron State College Friday night. Meiergerd is an environmental biology major and will remain at CSC this coming year to work on her master’s degree. Vapenik is an industrial technology major and will teach that subject at Maywood High School this fall.

The first attendants to the king and queen were Alyssa Derry of Chappell and Nate Jameson of Venango, a graduate of Grant High School. The other queen candidates were Echo Fredrickson of Hay Springs, Sarah Krysl of Stuart and Amy Wiseman of O’Neill. The other king candidates were Travis Faber of Big Springs, Josh Russo of Ainsworth and Darren Wright of Albion.

Sharing the spotlight with the royalty were orators Shauna Kutschara of Hay Springs representing Cardinal Key National Honorary Society and Aaron Rutt of Blue Hill representing Blue Key National Honor Societies.
