Hispanic Heritage Month celebration set at CSC
Chadron State College will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the Student Center lobby Tuesday with traditional food, dance and music. The free event begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
Frances Gonzalez, Chadron State International Club advisor, said the Los Guadalupanos dancers and a four-person music group of Scottsbluff plan to perform at the event. She said the group will perform “conjunto,” a Tex-Mex variety of music.
Hispanic CSC students will prepare the traditional food.
Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins Sept. 15, commemorates the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries—Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico declared its independence on Sept. 16, and Chile on Sept. 18.
