High Plains Music Festival at CSC next week

More than 300 musicians from 28 high schools in Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota and Wyoming have been selected to participate in the High Plains Band and Chorus Festival at Chadron State College on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 2 and 3.

The students were chosen through taped auditions. They will rehearse for two days and then give a concert at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hall. The concert will be open to the public without charge.

Directing the honor choir will be Dr. Kevin Brower, director of choral activities at Brigham Young University-Idaho. The honor band will be directed by Dr. Mark Heidel, director of bands and assistant professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The festival choir will be directed by Dr. Joel Schreuder, director of choral activities at Chadron State, and the festival band will be directed by Dr. William Winkle, director of bands at CSC.

Nebraska--Ainsworth, Alliance, Arnold, Banner County, Bayard, Bridgeport, Chadron, Gering, Gordon, Hay Springs, Hemingford, Imperial, Kimball, Mitchell, Rushville, Sidney, Sioux County, Valentine.

South Dakota—Custer, Douglas High at Ellsworth AFB, Philip, Sturgis,

Wyoming—Hulett, Moorcroft, Sundance, Upton

Colorado—Eaton, Julesburg
