Global warming is presentation's topic

The author of “The Coming Storm, Extreme Weather and Our Terrifying Future,” a critically-acclaimed book about and what may be ahead unless global warming is checked, will speak at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8 in the Student Center Ballroom at Chadron State College.

Speaking will be Bob Reiss, (pronounced Reese), a former Chicago Tribune reporter who traveled the world conducting interviews and doing his own research, prior to writing the. “The Coming Storm.” Reiss also wrote “The Road to Extrema” after he traveled to the Amazon and saw the massive rainforest destruction there.

In his talk, Reiss is expected to describe the origins, politics and science behind the concept of global warming. He also will tell of contacts who were once skeptical that a problem existed and now have moved into the believer category. In addition, he will suggest some potential solutions.

Reiss is described as one of the world’s leading authors in the field of environmental activism.

His appearance at CSC will be part of the college’s Distinguished Speakers Series. No admission will be charged.
