Members of Chadron State College's Society of Manufacturing Engineers chapter will be participating in their first electric car race of the year Saturday at Kearney.

The event, which will be at the Nebraska Safety Center, includes an endurance race and contests to measure braking and maneuverability.

Kevin Miller, the team's adviser who is a CSC assistant professor of industrial technology, said the students have totally rebuilt the car from last year, with the exception of the body shell which has been altered.

Chadron State will host an electric car race Saturday, May 1, and also plans to compete at North Platte and Elkhorn this spring.
