CSC professor is national pre-vet advisor

Chadron State College agriculture professor Georgia Younglove has been selected the junior national advisor for the American Pre-Veterinary Medicine Association.

The election took place during the recent national symposium that was hosted by Chadron State. The commitment is for two years. The senior advisor this past year was Dr. Greg Lewbart of North Carolina State. Moving up to fill that position will be Dr. Ralph Noble of Tuskekee University in Alabama. Dr. Younglove will assist Noble this coming year and become the senior advisor in 2005.

The advisors provide guidance to the national student officers and assist with arranging the annual symposiums. Next year’s symposium will be at Iowa State University.

Younglove has taught agriculture and been an advisor for the Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club at CSC since 1998.

She noted that two women from Chadron State have been accepted at veterinary schools beginning this fall. Somer Tremain Pieper of Sidney, who received a bachelor’s degree from CSC in 2000 and a master’s degree in 2002, has been accepted at Kansas State University, and Caitlin Urdahl of Ault, Colo., who will graduate in May, has been accepted at Colorado State University.
