CSC choral concert is Thursday night

Gabriel Faure’s “Requiem” will be presented by the Chadron State College choir during its concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1 at the United Methodist Church in Chadron. The men’s and women’s ensembles that are made up of members of the choir also will be performing.

Dr. Joel Schreuder is the CSC choral director.

Faure is described as “the greatest master of French song” “Requiem” was his most extensive work. It became popular throughout Europe before Faure’s death in 1924 at age 79. Four keyboard players will accompany the choir to simulate the sound of an accompanying orchestra.

The choir also will sing “Elijah Rock” and “Praise His Holy Name” by Keith Hampton.

The men’s ensemble will present several well-known numbers such as “Let Your Voice Be Heard,” “Vive L’amour,” “Down in the Valley,” “Song of Peace” and “Please Mr. Columbus.” Highlighting the portion of the program by the women’s ensemble will be a Spanish folk/dance song, “El Romanton.

` Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and youths 18 and under if the tickets are obtained prior to the concert from the CSC Box Office in Memorial Hall. The telephone number is 432-6360. All tickets at the door will be $6.
