Crouse appointed interim dean
A 25-year member of the Chadron State College faculty and a former dean, Dr. Margaret Crouse, has been named interim dean of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies at CSC. Her appointment is for two years.
Crouse said she is looking forward to her new position, largely because she knows she will be working with good people.
She served as dean of the School of Business and Applied Sciences at CSC for nine years until the college was reorganized two years ago from four schools to two schools by Dr. Tom Krepel, the college president, in a move to help cope with severe reductions in state funding.
The school Crouse formerly headed included the Applied Sciences and Business and Economics Departments. Those departments will again be under her supervision along with the Education, Social Work and Psychology, and Health, Physical Education and Recreation Departments and graduate studies.
In addition, the dean is in charge of the Nelson Physical Activities Center and the Child Development Center.
Crouse said two immediate objectives will be to attain re-accreditation for the teacher education and social work programs from their national agencies. In addition, she said she will concentrate helping the college meet the needs of individuals seeking graduate degrees.
During the past two years, Crouse said she enjoyed teaching courses in family and consumer science, vocational education and international food policy. But, she added, “I’m ready for this new challenge.”
