Cousins to present senior recital

Cousins Johannah Hardy of Chadron and Melissa Phillips of Mullen will perform a joint senior recital on at 4 p.m, Saturday, April 24 in the Chicoine Atrium of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College.

A saxophone player, Hardy will perform “Concerto in C Minor” by Alessandro Marcello, “Concertino” by Eugene Bozza and “Brillance” by Ida Gotkovsky. She will be accompanied on the piano by Rachel Lowry of Fort Morgan, Colo.

A clarinetist, Phillips will be performing movements from ”Concertino” by Giuseppe Tartini, “Concerto for Clarinet” by Wolfgang Mozart, “Fantasia” and” Rondo” by Carl Maria von Weber and “Sonatina” by Malcolm Arnold. Her accompanist will be Brenda Owen of Chadron.

The recital will conclude with a duet titled “Aura Lee,” with accompanied by Lowry.

Hardy has been a member of the show band, wind ensemble, saxophone quartet, jazz band and Cardinal Key and was the band secretary.

Phillips has been involved in show band, wind ensemble, clarinet quartet, concert choir and Cardinal Key. She also been secretary of MENC and senior representative and secretary of the band

Johannah is the daughter of Bob and Joyce Hardy of Chadron. Melissa’s parents are Leonard and Alisa Phillips of Mullen.
