Tom Cook of Chadron, northern Panhandle representative of the Nebraska Commission of Indian Affairs, dances after carrying the eagle staff during the Grand Entry of the third annual Chadron State College Powwow on Saturday night.

The powwow was sponsored by Chadron State's American Indian student organization, the White Buffalo Club. It featured traditional American Indian food, drumming, dancing and singing. About 250 people attended the event. The eagle staff is the national flag for most American Indian nations. The U.S. and Chadron State flags were carried in by a pair of veterans, Edward Garneaux of Hot Springs, S.D., and Christina Cole of Chadron.
