Several Chadron State College students placed high in competition at the recent Phi Beta Lambda Business Fraternity’s state convention in Kearney.

In addition, CSC accounting professor Dr. Bobby Duron was named the fraternity’s Businessperson of the Year and the late Linda Nitsch, who was a business teacher at CSC and the sponsor of the CSC Phi Beta Lambda chapter, was honored as the state’s advisor of the year. Mrs. Nitsch also received that honor at the state convention two years ago. She died this past February.

Chadron State students who were placewinners included Lariann Smith of Philip, S.D., who was second in Quantitative Methods and fourth in Finance; Hannah McMaster of Chadron, third in both Finance and International Business; Caela Raish of Piedmont, S.D., third in Hospitality Management; and Lyndsay Wall of McCook, fourth in Management.

Between 15 and 30 students took each of the tests at the convention.

McMaster also received the “Who’s Who in Nebraska Phi Beta Lambda” award that goes to an outstanding member of each chapter in the state. She is the president of the CSC chapter.
