Art shows open in Memorial Hall

A unique, fascinating art show, described by one experienced viewer as being “magical,” is open in the Main Gallery of Memorial Hall, It is the work of Ray Howlett of Lincoln. He calls his show “Electricity, Glass and Color.”

Howlett’s work involves optics and electric light that yields an array of reflections. A subtle color shift over the surface of the glass is apparent as the angle of viewing changes. The exhibit will remain open through Nov. 15.

In addition, the works of Kimble Bromley of North Dakota has opened in Gallery 239 on the second floor of Memorial Hall. Its theme is Chicago graffiti. That show will be open through Nov. 5.

Bromley is an art professor at North Dakota State University, but formerly taught at DePaul University in Chicago as well as at Kentucky Wesleyan College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
