Wiedenfeld Family Scholarship

Criteria:

The recipients shall have graduated from a high school located in any of the following counties: Sioux, Dawes, Box Butte, Scottsbluff, Morrill, Garden, Sheridan, or Banner counties in Nebraska; Fall River, Shannon, or Custer counties in South Dakota. The recipients shall have a GPA of at least 3.0 and they shall demonstrate need.

William F. and Mary M. Wiedenfeld, a brother and sister who were natives of northern Sioux County. They lived in Chadron for approximately the last 20 years of their lives. Bill passed away on Sept. 22, 1996 at age 75 and Mary passed away on July 9, 1997 at age 74. Neither ever married. Both Bill and Mary were born in Ardmore and graduated from Ardmore High School. As a young man Bill hoped to become a veterinarian, but said his family could not afford to send him to college. He and Mary hoped that the scholarship fund they were establishing would help others realize their dreams.
