Virginia Kennedy Coffee Scholarship

Criteria:

First preference shall be given to any student from Sioux, Dawes, or Box Butte counties majoring in agriculture, ag business, or music with preference for vocal or choir. Second preference shall be given to any qualified student from Sioux County.

Virginia was born in Alliance in December of 1920. She graduated from Chadron State Teacher's College in 1942. Virginia married Bill B. Coffee, a Sioux County rancher, shortly after graduation. The couple had 4 daughters, all of whom went on to become college graduates. Virginia was very active in the community, serving on several committees and even served as the Mayor of Harrison from 1978-1980. Virginia's children and husband established this scholarship to recognize her experience at Chadron State and to provide an opportunity for others to experience the same.
