The recipients shall have a GPA of at least 2.5.

Sophia Uhlken Hodges was born April 27, l905, the youngest child of immigrant parents from Germany who came to the United States in 1893 and settled on a farm in northwest Nebraska in 1895. The value of a good education dominated Sophia's outlook on life. She held a Bachelor's Degree from Chadron State College and a Master's Degree from Stanford University. All of her professional life was geared to positions held in college administration, beginning as Registrar at Chadron State College, followed by positions at the University of Denver and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
