Robert Hanlon attended Chadron State College 1965-1969 followed by the University of Nebraska Medical Center 1969-1973. Originally from Crawford, NE he practiced medicine in Chadron for approximately 30 years. While at CSC he played Tenor Saxophone in a local dance band, The Esquires. While practicing medicine, he took private lessons from a CSC faculty member, Carola Winkle and played in the Bordeaux Community Band. Upon retirement he moved to Omaha and currently plays in the Nebraska Wind Symphony, Omaha Symphonic Winds, Papillion Community Concert Band, and is a member of a saxophone quartet. This scholarship was created to honor the memory of The Esquires, a group made up of the “Horse” family….a great group of friends and great musicians. Medicine was always his first love, but music was not far behind.
