Dr. Elizabeth (Betty) Jacobson McCawley was a member of the CSC education department faculty for a total of 15 years. She came to the college in 1959 to establish the off-campus student teaching program. Three years later, she moved to Omaha to marry a childhood friend, Jerome Jacobson, who died two years later. She then accompanied a group headed by former CSC President, Barton Kline to establish a teacher education graduate school at the University of Dacca in East Pakistan. After the project ended in 1966, Betty returned to CSC and served until 1978, when she retired. In 1979 she married Paul McCawley, who had been the CSC business manager from 1957 to 1972. The couple received the college's Distinguished Service Award in July 1993. Betty passed away on Jan. 13, 2004 and Paul passed away on June 1, 1998.
