Minnie E. Lichte Memorial Endowment

Recipient(s) shall be pursuing a career or teaching degree in the physical sciences.


This endowment has been established in loving memory of Minna Edna Lichte’s love of her family and teaching of science.  “Minnie” Lichte was born in 1908 at Dunlap, Dawes County, NE.  At the age of 8 her family moved to Chadron where she received the majority of her education, graduating from college there in 1927.  In 1938 she went on to earn her masters in Textile Chemistry from the Iowa Agricultural College.  Minnie then returned to her teaching at Chadron State College where she taught in the Science Department 42 years, retiring in 1974.  She was a charter member of the Chadron Branch of the American Association of University Woman’s Club, a Golden Eagle of the Chadron State Faculty, and became an active volunteer in the community upon her retirement.
