The recipients shall have a declared major in a business related field of study. First preference shall be given to a student from Sheridan County, Nebraska. Second preference shall be given to a student from Nebraska. Third preference shall be given to a student from a state contiguous with Nebraska.
Arnold McDaniel was born and attended school in Rushville, NE. His parents owned a bakery business. He graduated from CSC in 1967 with a BA in Business Administration and Economics. Shortly after graduation McDaniel joined Dun & Bradstreet as a financial analyst. After several sales and operations management positions, he assumed responsibility for Dun & Bradstreet's industrial marketing research products in the western states. In 1976, McDaniel joined Equitable Life Leasing Corporation to direct sales and operating personnel providing equipment lease financing services. In 1983, he was invited to launch a new energy services company. As president of CP National's Investment and Services Group, he managed a group of 22 operating subsidiary companies, until 1988. Following the sale of CP National Corporation, he assumed general management responsibility, as chief executive officer of Precis Corporation. Precis is a software and consulting services company, founded by McDaniel and a partner in 1981. Following the sale of that business in 1991, McDaniel worked independently as a business intermediary doing merger and acquisition transactions. In 1994, after a 27 year career in California, a decision to return to the western plains led to the acquisition of The Bench Advertising Company located in Denver, CO. In 1996, The Bench Advertising Company was sold. McDaniel remains active as an investor in small businesses, and as a mentor to other business owners. Arne and Barbara, a graduate of Iowa State University, live in Cherry Hills Village, CO. They enjoy the ongoing work of house and garden. Barbara keeps very busy with her membership in the American Association of University Women. Arne spends much of his time at vintage sports car events.
