The recipient shall be a Non-Nebraska resident and shall have a GPA of at least a 2.5.

James Larry Lochridge was born in Red Lodge, Montana. Bill Bruer was a Chadron State graduate and Larry's high school coach. He encouraged Larry and three other classmates to attend Chadron State College. He played football and threw the javelin in track at Chadron for four years. While at Chadron State, he met Barbara Burkhiser and they married. After graduation he taught Industrial Arts and coached for three years in Nebraska before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. Barbara and Larry had two children and were married for 44 years until she died in 1997. Career wise, he worked as a Drafting teacher for four years in Henderson, Nevada then worked as a high school counselor for 32 years during which he helped open two new high schools. Since retiring in 1993, he has continued to support students by helping provide scholarships.
