Chadron State College is a revered place to Larry and Corinne in countless ways. They met each other on campus in the summer of 1951. Love was instantaneous and continuous even to this day. Larry, from Chambers, had studied intermittently beginning in 1946. Corinne, from Valentine, transferred as a graduate of Cottey College in 1950. She graduated from Chadron State in 1962. Larry was drafted the same summer they met in 1951. They married in May 1952. After discharge, Larry studied at and graduated from the University of Nebraska with BS and MA degrees. He taught at Scottsbluff and Gering for a total of four years as he studied at the University of Colorado from which he received the doctorate degree. In 1961, Larry was persuaded to return to Chadron State to serve in sequential positions, including the presidency in the mid-1970s. Their service was interrupted for service in East Pakistan for two years as educators. In 1977, the State College Board selected Larry to serve as president of Peru State College, a position he held until 1982. They loved the people of Peru State and southeast Nebraska also. Larry and Corrinne's son, John, studied and graduated from Chadron State in 1976. Their daughter, Jane Tangeman Newblom, studied and graduated from Chadron in 1978. Their youngest, Lara Tangeman Morrow, studied at Norfolk, Wayne State and Doane College. She proudly holds degrees from each including a BS from Wayne and a MS from Doane. This bit of family history testifies to our love for Chadron State and for our modest gift to those who may follow. Our affection for Chadron State and for its people is too great to measure.
