Jacque and Dorothy Schmiedt Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:

The recipient shall be a graduate from a Wyoming high school. First preference shall be given to a college senior enrolled in the Professional Education semester, preferably having a major in English or Library Media. Second preference shall be given to a college senior who is an Education major.


Jacque and Dorothy Schmiedt migrated to Wyoming in 1947.  They taught in Wyoming Public Schools for over twenty years.  Dorothy at the elementary level and Jacque at the high school level.  He taught History, coached and served as Activities Director and Principal.  Both of the Schmiedts earned Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees at CSC.  In 1970 Jacque was offered and accepted a position in the CSC Student Personnel Division.  He served as Director of Admissions and Placement and later as Dean of Students from 1970-1987.  He retired as Dean of Students in 1987.  Dorothy served Dawes County as county Superintendent of Schools.  She supervised some twenty four plus rural schools.  She retired in 1987.
