Jack and Terry McNutt Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:

The recipient shall be a declared Education major. He/she shall have a GPA of at least 2.75 and have passed the Praxis exam.


Robert Jack McNutt was born in Chadron in 1923 and served with the Marines in the Pacific during World War II.  He graduated from Chadron State Teachers College in 1948 and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1962.  Jack retired in 1980 after 26 years of service as a high school teacher and public-school administrator.  He died in October 1990. Terence Jean (McCarty) McNutt was born in Brule, NE in 1922.  She served in the United States Navy as a WAVE (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) from 1943-1947.  Terry married Jack in 1948 and graduated from Chadron State Teachers College in 1949.  Jack and Terry had two daughters, Treva and Tibbie.  Terry received her MA degree from University of Wyoming in 1963 and retired in 1987 after 31 years as a high school teacher.  She wrote and self-published The Suitcase Files and The Suitcase Files II. Terry died in March 2014.
