Hubert & Hazelle Finney Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:

Recipient must have a GPA of at least 2.5. First preference would be given to a student from the Sandhills of Nebraska who is a rodeo athlete and an agriculture related major. Second preference would be given to a student who is a rodeo athlete and an agriculture related major. Third preference would be given to a student with an agriculture related major.


Hubert Finney was born in Curtis, Nebraska and graduated from Thedford High School in 1926. In 1942 Hubert married Hazelle Beguin of Rushville. After returning from the military stint during WWII, they bought the ranch at Seneca, Nebraska that is still in the family. Hazelle Beguin Finney was born and raised on ranch near Rushville, Nebraska. She received her A.B. degree from CSC in 1942. After marrying Hubert she taught school for nine years. Hazelle has always been proud to be a graduate of Chadron State College and there have been many family members that have attended as well. Hazelle believes education is so important and she urges all young people to take advantage of the chance to get it.
