Criteria:

The recipients shall be pursuing a major or minor in Human Ecology; with first preference to a physically challenged student.

This scholarship was established to honor my parents Florence & Walter Hampton. My mother attended Chadron State in early 1920's where she majored in Home Ec under Miss Delyell. My father was a postal clerk after his retirement. He and my mother set up clinics for Elks Crippled children over the state. They were both honored by Governor as admirals in Nebraska Navy. I, Hope Hampton Weaver, started school in kindergarten at Chadron Prep and graduated from college in 1946. I also had a major in Home Ec under Miss Delyell. After graduation I established the first Home Ec Department at Chadron High in 1947. At the end of my education career I was Media Director of ESU#8 in Neligh. I am proud of my time spent at Chadron State and glad I can honor my parents with this scholarship.
