During WWII Glenn was stationed at the air base in Mobile, Alabama when he met Evelyn Bennett. Evelyn was an instructor in foreign languages for the pilots who would be seeing overseas service. The two were married shortly after in 1943. When the war was over Glenn was discharged as a Colonel and the two moved to Fairborn, Ohio. Glenn served as Dean of the Air Force Institute of Technology until he retired. Evelyn developed cancer and passed away in 1969. In this sorrowful time he made the decision to create a scholarship for students pursuing a medical career in cancer research.
