The recipient shall be a resident of Chadron. He/she shall have a GPA of at least 3.0. Financial need shall be a consideration.


Georgia was born in Lincoln, Neb., in 1935. She attended Chadron Prep School from 1947 to 1951 and then transferred to Chadron High School where she completed high school. She enrolled at Chadron State Teacher's College for summer school in 1953 and then attended the college in the fall of 1953 and summer of 1954. She married Carl Frank Vondra in 1955, and to this union four children were born. Her husband was a professor in the geology department and is a distinguished professor in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. She worked as a secretary and office manager at Ames High School. After twenty-six years of service, she retired in July of 2000. Her mother, Esther Muma, a longtime resident of Chadron, was an avid fan of Chadron Prep and Chadron State. All five of her children were enrolled there at various times.
