George W. Bowman Memorial Scholarship

Area of Interest: Athletic

Criteria:

Recipient must be a member of the Men's Basketball team. First preference will be given to a student-athlete from Johnson, Iowa or Poweshiek County in Iowa. Second preference will be give to a player from the service region of CSC. In the event of multiple qualifiers, the highest GPA will be the determining factor.

George William Bowman, 1917-2000, graduated from Chadron State College in 1940 where he played basketball and was later inducted into Chadron's Hall of Fame. He received a master's degree in physical education from the University of Iowa in 1955. Although George excelled on the basketball court and baseball field, his spirit and personality is what people remember most about him. He could always find something to share with everyone he met. Chadron State was very dear to him. His only request of you would be to enjoy your college experience, embrace life, and give to others even if it's just a friendly smile.
