Criteria:

The recipient shall have graduated from a small rural town in Nebraska. He/she shall have a GPA of at least 3.0.
Edwin C. and Avis Nelson came to Chadron in 1961 when Ed was appointed dean of the college and later served as president for 18 years. Avis and Ed were both teachers who dedicated their best efforts to that profession. They established the scholarship to encourage and assist teachers.
