The recipient shall have graduated from a high school located in Sioux, Dawes, Box Butte, or Sheridan counies of Nebraska. The recipient must be demonstrate college potential.
Edmund Hollstein graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1930. In 1934 he received his B.A. Degree from the University of Nebraska. After attending George Washington Law School in D.C. and the University of Washington Law School in Seattle, he received his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Nebraska in 1938. In 1945 he married Marian Marcy. They have four daughters: Mary Anne Wefso, Linda Ocken, Susan Retherford and Irene Nedved. They have a total of twelve grandchildren. Ed practiced law in Rushville, NE since 1938 except when he served in WWII. He served as a County Attorney of Sheridan County, City Attorney of Rushville, Hay Springs and Gordon. Marian graduated from Bishop Clarkson School of Nursing in 1944. They both appreciated that education was key to open many doors. In 1983 they gave to Chadron State Foundation.
