The recipient(s) shall be studying Science Education and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.


Dr. Louis Ninegar is a native of the Nebraska, graduating from Bayard High School in 1935. He enrolled at Chadron State College in 1938 and supported himself during his college years, in part, by boxing professionally. Lou graduated from CSC in 1941. His career began at Minatare High School where he taught science and coached. Lou spent the remainder of his career in Kearney, first as a teacher, coach and principal at Kearney High School and then as a professor and administrator at Kearney State College until his retirement in 1982. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from Chadron State in 1976 and from Kearney State in 1989. Dr. Ninegar and his wife, the former Bethine Bruner, met at Chadron State and continue to live in Kearney.
