Dr. Jan Murphy Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:

First preference shall be given to freshman students who graduated from Crawford High School. Second preference shall be given to any freshman Education major. The recipients shall have a GPA of at least 2.5.

Dr. Jan Murphy was on the professional staff at Chadron State beginning in 1980. While at CSC, she taught English, was the director of the Teaching-Learning Center, was a reading specialist, was the director of Student Support Services and from 1993-1997 was director of advising and retention. Prior to that, she taught speech and English for 10 years at Gibbon and Shelton high schools in Nebraska. She was born in Greeley County, Neb., and graduated from North Loup Scotia High School in 1966. She passed away on St. Patrick's Day, her favorite holiday, after a battle with cancer.
