Dorothy Post Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:

The recipient shall be an Education major and a resident of Sheridan County. He/she shall have a GPA of at least 2.5 or have graduated in the upper half of the graduating class.


Dorothy Dorene Higgins Post was born September 14, 1910, to Edward D. and Ruth B. Higgins. She was married to Dale Post in Alliance on December 31, 1959. They raised three children. Her love was farming with her husband and teaching school. She taught for 45 and one-half years in Idaho, Nebraska and Kansas. She taught 25 years in Rushville and part of that time was the high school principal. She retired in 1976 when she received the Teacher of the Year Award for the county. She served several years as a chaplain, a position she held and loved until her health failed her.
