Preference will be given to an alumnus of Chadron Prep School or a direct descendent of a Chadron Prep alumnus. Second preference will be given to students from area schools who plan on attending CSC

The Chadron Prep Alumni Scholarship was started by the Chadron Prep Alumni Association in honor and memory of all the students, faculty, and staff of the Chadron Prep School. The preparatory school was begun in 1911 when the Chadron State Teachers' College began. Its purpose was to provide student teaching opportunities for college students before they graduated and entered their teaching fields. The current Hildreth Building was the home of Chadron Prep. In later years the high school (grades 10 through 12) occupied the second floor of the Administration Building. The Prep School closed in 1961.
