Bill and Jean Scheopner Scholarship

Area of Interest: Agriculture

Criteria:

The recipients shall be pursuing a major or minor in an agriculture related field. First preference shall go to recipients from Kansas, Colorado, or Nebraska. Second preference shall go to any student majoring or minoring in an ag related field.

Chadron State College received a great deal of support from Bill and Jean Scheopner. While neither Bill nor Jean attended the college, all four of their children attended or graduated from CSC. In addition, all five of their grandchildren, and their spouses, graduated from the college. Bill and Jean supported CSC in many different venues, including contributions to the annual fundraising campaign, attending the different events offered at the college, as well as allowing the college to purchase the land located on the southwest corner of the college, locally known as Briggs Pond. Bill and Jean recognized the importance of a college education and encouraged not only their children and grandchildren to attend, but many other successful students to obtain a college degree. This scholarship reflects the agricultural and business background that was the mainstay of this couple's lives.
