Anna Grace was born in 1908 in central Iowa. She enrolled at the University of Iowa but soon withdrew due to family circumstances. She married a childhood friend in 1932 and moved to Chicago, Illinois. Her husband was employed with Chicago Northwestern Railroad, eventually arriving in Chadron in 1948. In the early 1950's Anna Grace rekindled her interest in completing her degree in Elementary Education. Her first teaching contract was at the Dunlap school south of Chadron. She truly loved children and learning and was always challenging others to do the same.
