Anna M. Nelson Kent came to CSC in 1936. She was hired by President Elliott as Assistant Professor, Education, and Supervisor of the Campus Laboratory School. Her students remember her for her belief in their best qualities and strong commitment to their learning. Mr. Kent came to Chadron State College in 1938 as Registrar. Reserved and thoughtful, he was known for his kindness and concern for the students. He was especially helpful to teachers who spent summers taking classes at the college, often over many years, to complete requirements for their degree. Mr. and Mrs. Kent met at the college and were married in 1939. Together they contributed to the growth and development of the college, seeing it grow from just over 400 students when they first arrived on campus. Both continued, until their death, to have an interest in the college, and to hear from students who had been touched in some special way by their help and support. Kent Hall was named in honor of his years of dedication and service to the college.
