Why did Food Pantry start?

The College and University Basic Needs Insecurities: A National #RealCollege Survey Report 2021 found that at four-year colleges 29% of students reported experiencing food insecurity. Chadron State College has conducted their own research through the American College Health Association and National College Health Assessment and found that 56% of our students experienced food insecurity in the Spring of 2023. At CSC we are committed to addressing the needs of our student’s health. The Food Pantry was piloted in Spring 2020 and has since served over 3,400 students.

How is the Food Pantry funded?

CSC’s food pantry is stocked by funds from Student Senate and private donations.
