ELEMENTS RELATED TO THE AGENCY:
- Help the student learn about the agency.
- Treat the student as a professional.
- Include the student in agency functions.
TASKS/ASSIGNMENTS:
- Clarify the purpose of assignments.
- Provide the student with detailed instructions.
- Work with the student on tasks/assignments.
- Regularly review the student's workload.
- Provide the student with a variety of activities.
- Provide early opportunities for client contact.
- Clarify the student's performance expectations.
SUPERVISORY SKILLS:
- Encourage discussion of things the student may need to correct.
- Help student link theory to practice.
- Provide clear and consistent feedback.
- Reassure the student that he/she can succeed.
- Demonstrate the student is valuable to the agency.
SUPERVISON:
- Student needs to meet weekly with Instructor.
- These meetings need to be regularly scheduled.
- Student will bring his/her own agenda.
- Agenda may include items about the student's strengths, issues concerning practice and experience, his/her performance, and areas to improve on.
- Discussion of learning needs.
