Mission

The Mission of the Chadron State College master’s in athletic training program is to develop and educate students of the high plains region and beyond to become competent healthcare providers in the skills of athletic training. The MSAT program will provide instructional experiences that promote rural healthcare, remote and wilderness medicine, and a cultural understanding for the people who live, work, and play in the rural, rugged, and diverse high plains regions.

MSAT Admission Requirements

  • Admission criteria
    • Complete Master of Athletic Training Application Form (we need to create this document and put in a link)
    • GPA 3.00 and at least be in junior standing at Chadron State College, or earn a 3.00 GPA and hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
    • Have earned at least a "C" or better in all prerequisite courses
      • Anatomy & Physiology I&II*:(BIOL 240/240L & BIOL 242/242L)
      • Chemistry: (CHEM 121)
      • Physics: (PHYS 151/151L)
      • Nutrition: (FCS 247 & FCS 447)
      • Kinesiology or Biomechanics: (HPER 232 & HPER439/439L)
      • Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology: (HPER 232)
      • Psychology: (PSYC 131)
      • Statistics: (MATH 232)
      • General Biology with Lab (BIOL 101L) or Human Biology 121 with lab
    • Submit resume that clearly lists all application observation requirements with contact information of supervising athletic trainer
    • Complete 50 hours of observation under a certified athletic trainer
    • Three letters of reference stating the applicant's ability to participate in a master's level healthcare program
    • Upon completion of the application process, the committee will review and rank applicants and set up interviews with potential candidates.
    • Review of application will begin January 10th.
